In my ever-elusive free time, I enjoy working with my hands in woodworking, electronics, metalworking, and 3D printing. Outdoor activities, such as fly fishing, hunting, hiking, and camping, are some other great ways for me to take a step back, clear my head, and enjoy some fresh air.

Prior to joining Rice University, I graduated from The University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa, AL) with a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 2020, performing research under Prof. Xuefeng Wang. Previous work experience includes undergraduate research at The University of Alabama, REU program at the University of Georgia (Athens, GA), internship and part-time work at Mercedes-Benz, U.S. International (Tuscaloosa, AL), and three semesters of co-op engineering work at Hyster-Yale Group / Bolzoni Auramo (Sulligent, AL).

In high school, I co-founded Evans on the Waters, LLC, a business centered on bowties, T-shirts, and hair bows. Along with three friends, we designed, sewed, and sold our products in store, online, and at local marketplaces in my hometown of Richmond, Virginia. This endeavor sparked my entrepreneurial side. Ever since, I have been chasing the pride and enjoyment that comes from designing an idea from scratch, creating it, and managing it. I bring this mindset with me in all projects, especially research. Ultimately, I intend to turn my research into a career through my own “lab,” whether that be through founding a new venture in the start-up world or through a more traditionally academic route at a university.

Hobbies, previous non-research projects, and side hustles.
